The written short answer is being updated after a re-evaluation. The scores below are current.

Read this comparison as one judge. Each weighs the same scores by what they care about.

The Bootstrapper

Pays with their own card. Optimizes for price/value at 3 seats and at 30, a usable free tier, and a price page that answers instead of qualifying. Rejects hidden seat minimums and "contact sales".

Criterion by criterion

Collaboration depth

ClickUp

Workspaces with owners and end-users, per-user permissions that AI agents must respect, and SAML/SCIM at the top tier prove a second person has a defined place. But nothing shows a shared timeline, dependency, workload or guest view — '100+ products' is a slogan, not a feature list — so I can't credit team-level planning that isn't evidenced.

Scoro

Assignments, a team capacity view that shows who's free and who's overloaded, a RAID log that structures risks and dependencies, granular permissions, and customer portal accounts for client involvement — team-level planning is clearly first-class, positioned to run 10 to 500 people on the same platform. I found no public information on lightweight guest access outside the customer portal model, so I stop just short of the top.

Reporting

ClickUp

The evidence contains no report, dashboard, time tracker, budget view or export — the closest thing is a marketing line that AI 'gets you answers and insights' and an Enterprise audit log. That's a vibe, not reporting; by the anchors this is barely above looking at the board.

Scoro

Time and labor-cost tracking, quote-to-budget estimating, client billing, and CSV/XLS export cover the standard questions, and a dataSights app consolidates accounts into a BI-friendly database. I found no public information on a native dashboard, a custom report builder, or scheduled report delivery, so this reads as solid standard reporting rather than configurable.

Integrations

ClickUp

Named connectors (Google Drive, GitHub, Salesforce) plus MCP support is a real start, but the only API in evidence is an 'Enterprise API' line item — paywalling the API behind contact-sales is exactly what I reject. No calendar/Slack hooks, webhooks, or import paths appear anywhere in the evidence.

Scoro

A marketplace with 40+ native apps, a full REST API, webhooks, two-way Zapier, SCIM provisioning, native MCP to Claude and ChatGPT, a developer program, and sync paths from Asana, Basecamp, ClickUp and Monday.com, with CSV/XLS import and export on top. The competitor imports ride on Zapier rather than a native importer, which is the only hair between this and ecosystem-grade.

Onboarding effort

ClickUp

'Free forever. No credit card.' is the signup answer I want, and even the free tier gets two-factor auth. But 60MB free storage is stingy and nothing evidences templates, guided setup or importers, so I can't credit the inside-an-hour anchor — a day, maybe, on this evidence.

Scoro

A 14-day trial with no credit card, self-onboarding as a documented path, guides, video tutorials and product tours, plus CSV/XLS import for existing data mean a small team can start without paying anyone for services. But picking among bundles of 8 modular apps asks a newcomer to choose before they know what they need, and paid configuration carries a 170 EUR minimum; I found no public information on ready-made project templates.

European sovereignty

ClickUp

A San Diego Inc. under California law 'regardless of your location', FTC oversight, and a policy that data may be processed in the US — the GDPR badge and referenced DPA are paperwork over substance. EU residency exists only as an Enterprise-plan option, which doesn't help a European buyer on self-serve tiers.

Scoro

The contracting entity is Scoro Software OÜ in Tallinn, the supervisory authority is the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate, a DPA appendix exists, and each client chooses its AWS region with a closest-to-registration default — yet the privacy policy itself says EU data may be transferred and stored outside the EU, e.g. the US. AWS and Stripe put data within US legal reach, a London office address appears alongside the Estonian one, and I found no public information on ownership or a contractual EU-only residency commitment; that is choice and paperwork, not a fixed promise.

Support & documentation

ClickUp

'24/7 Support' is repeated on three pages and there's a support@ email, which beats a bare contact form. But the evidence evidences zero documentation surface — no help center, guides or changelog anywhere — so beyond pinging support I can't verify a stuck user gets unstuck.

Scoro

A Help Center at Com is included in every subscription, requests go through a form or a callback line, a published urgency matrix targets critical resolution within one business day, and the onboarding pages add guides, tutorials and product tours. But those targets are stated as aims rather than guarantees, support hours run Mon–Fri, and I found no public information on chat support or a visible changelog.

Pricing transparency

ClickUp

Self-serve numbers sit on the page ($9 and $28 per user/month, AI credits at $0.001) with a genuine free tier and no seat minimums in sight. But 'Save up to 20%/30%' doesn't say which billing basis the headline uses, tax treatment is unstated, and Enterprise — which holds the API, data residency, SAML/SCIM and audit log — is pure 'contact sales', so the opaque tier is doing real work.

Scoro

Four bundles are priced in the open — Time-billing at €15 user / month, Projects & Resources and Quote to Cash at €25 user / month, End-to-end at €52 user / month — with a 14-day trial and no credit card, which is what I want to see before anyone calls me. But the page is silent on taxes and on annual-versus-monthly differences, 'over 35 extras and integrations' carry no prices, the terms allow commitment periods that limit termination, and above 50 people the answer becomes 'Contact us' — the headline is real, the full invoice still needs qualifying.
