The written short answer is being updated after a re-evaluation. The scores below are current.

Read this comparison as one judge. Each weighs the same scores by what they care about.

The E-Commerce Manager

Owns a shop where a tenth of a second of load time shows up in the conversion rate. Wants personalisation that can be tested against a control, a snippet that does not flicker the product page, and a traffic-based price that does not jump a tier every December.

Criterion by criterion

Experiment types & delivery

Varify.io

The visual editor, split-URL tests, multi-page experiments and full-factorial multivariate tests in one platform are properly documented, and audience targeting plus mutual exclusion go beyond the basics. But server-side testing appears only as a line on a features overview, and I found no SDK documentation for it, no holdouts, and no way to test a personalisation against a control — the thing I need before trusting a personalised product page.

VWO

The pricing page names A/B/n, split and multivariate tests, cross-domain testing, mutually exclusive groups, and separate personalisation and feature management modules, which is more than a basic visual editor. We found no public information on server-side SDKs, edge delivery, or personalisation that can itself be tested against a control — the captured evidence is a plan feature grid, not delivery documentation. I can see how to test my product page, but not how I would run a holdout against my personalisation.

Statistical method & guardrails

Varify.io

The method is named precisely — a one-sided chi-square for conversion metrics, a one-sided t-test for revenue, with a two-sided option and a Bayesian alternative in the Pro plan, plus a significance calculator, A/A testing and unusually plain guidance of ten days minimum and at least 500 conversions per variant with interim results to be ignored. What is missing is machinery, not honesty: I found no sequential testing, no sample ratio mismatch detection, no correction for multiple metrics beyond a warning, and no public information on variance reduction or guardrail metrics.

VWO

The Pro plan names guardrail metrics and sample ratio mismatch detection, which are real protections I value. But we found no public information naming the statistical method, sample-size or duration guidance, or any protection against reading a result too early — a winner figure without a documented method is exactly what I cannot defend to my accountant.

Consent & visitor tracking

Varify.io

Variants are played out and users assigned without any banner while tracking to analytics is held until consent via Google Consent Mode V1/V2 or a consent tool — exactly the separation I want — and the vendor puts in writing its position that strictly necessary localStorage for variant assignment is exempt under ePrivacy, with 100% of visitors testable. I found no published list of storage keys with their lifetimes and no statement of how long experiment data is kept beyond a 14-day log deletion.

VWO

The privacy policy states it applies only to the customer and not to the visitors of the customer's website, and we found no public information on what the test script stores on a device or when it runs relative to consent. A tracking opt-out for users and named privacy contacts are the extent of the visitor-facing material captured.

Snippet performance & flicker

Varify.io

An 11.5 KB snippet is published, head placement is recommended to stop flicker, and the optional anti-flicker script is documented with its default 4-second hide and an unusually honest warning that it can hurt Core Web Vitals and SEO. I found no published figures for the measured effect on Core Web Vitals, and no public information on an asynchronous loading option, CDN delivery of the snippet, self-hosting, or per-project bundles.

VWO

The CDN runs on named providers across ten locations including Germany, the Netherlands, London and Paris, and self-hosting appears as an Enterprise feature. We found no published script size, no flicker handling described, and no Core Web Vitals figures — on a product page where a tenth of a second shows in conversion, that silence is the whole story.

Analytics, data export & integrations

Varify.io

Results land in my own BigQuery project raw, unfiltered and line-by-line with no sampling, BigQuery events show up as goals in the reports, and there are exact numbers per combination for e-commerce metrics — that is how a result gets checked rather than believed. The analytics bench is broad (GA4, Matomo, Piwik Pro, etracker, econda, Adobe Analytics, PostHog) with results export and an Experiment API offered as an expert function. I found no public information on API rate limits, CDP audience integration, or a versioned API contract.

VWO

An integrations page exists, Google Analytics is named, and API access plus pull-based integrations appear in the plan feature lists. We found no public information on exporting results, visitor-level data, or documented API limits — from what is captured I cannot verify a winner against my own analytics data.

European sovereignty

Varify.io

A German contracting entity registered at Munich Local Court (HRB 289569) and a Frankfurt hosting claim on the marketing pages, but the privacy policy names infrastructure only for the vendor's own website (Amazon AWS via Luxembourg) and I found no public information naming the hosting or snippet-delivery infrastructure of the testing product itself. The policy documents US processing via Cloudflare and Google services for the vendor's website, relying on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses, and I found no subprocessor list for the testing product or a published DPA covering the visitor data the script collects. The captured pages also name the company differently — Varify Software GmbH in the imprint, Varify GmbH as controller in the privacy policy — at the same Grünwald address.

VWO

All customer data is stated to be stored centrally in Washington DC and Dallas, USA, with the contracting entity Wingify Software Pvt. Ltd. in India; the CDN includes EU locations but the storage does not. Standard contractual clauses and an Article 27 EU representative are documented, and we found no public information on EU data residency for visitor data or a subprocessor list.

Pricing transparency

Varify.io

Tier prices are public with their limits (five active experiments and one domain on Growth, unlimited experiments on Pro) and the flat-rate claim of unlimited traffic with no tier jumps is exactly the December insurance I want. But the captured pages give different figures for the entry price — "€119 per month" on the homepage against "249 €" monthly or "199 € per month billed annually" on the plans page — and the AI-credit package gating Pro features is unpriced, multiple domains are "get in contact", and I found no public information on VAT treatment, minimum term, or what the double-asterisked footnote on "Unlimited traffic (MTU)" says.

VWO

The pricing page states there are no fixed plans, only a custom proposal built around goals and scope, and a free trial and free tools exist — but no tier price, traffic metric definition, limit, or overage rate is published anywhere captured. With monthly tracked users only appearing inside a FAQ question, my December invoice is not computable from public pages.
