The short answer

Gastronovi and LINA TeamCloud divide the bench, and no overall winner emerges. Gastronovi leads payments and fees (6.3 vs 4.0), operations and locations (8.0 vs 7.0) and pricing transparency (7.2 vs 5.5), with six judges leaning its way on each. LINA TeamCloud leads sovereignty (5.0 vs 4.0, six judges), accounting and portability (6.2 vs 5.0, five judges) and, narrowly, fiscal compliance (6.0 vs 5.7; two lean LINA TeamCloud, four tie) and checkout and hardware (5.3 vs 4.8; three lean LINA TeamCloud, one Gastronovi, two tie). Of four published weighted totals, three favour Gastronovi — fee-conscious merchant 6.4 to 5.3, operations manager 5.8 to 5.5, skeptic 5.7 to 5.4 — and the tax adviser favours LINA TeamCloud 5.6 to 5.3. Gastronovi publishes licence tiers of 69, 59 and 49 € per month; LINA TeamCloud publishes Core ab 99 €, Pro ab 249 €, Max ab 399 € net per month.

Choose Gastronovi if

  • You run several branches or a franchise and want central articles, recipes and suppliers inherited to locations with local overrides — operations and locations leans Gastronovi six judges to none (8.0 vs 7.0).
  • Card fees decide your margin — payments and fees leans Gastronovi six judges to none (6.3 vs 4.0); its verdict credits card fees published per type and volume, while the LINA TeamCloud verdict found no published fee per card type, acquirer or payout timing.
  • You need published licence prices before signing — pricing transparency leans Gastronovi six judges to none (7.2 vs 5.5), with tiers of 69, 59 and 49 € per month and a 17 % annual discount.
  • Your priorities match the fee-conscious merchant, operations manager or skeptic profile — those published weighted totals favour Gastronovi at 6.4 vs 5.3, 5.8 vs 5.5 and 5.7 vs 5.4.

Choose LINA TeamCloud if

  • Your tax adviser must sign off the till — fiscal compliance leans LINA TeamCloud on two judges with four ties (6.0 vs 5.7); the verdict names both TSE routes, fiskaly's cloud TSE on Frankfurt servers and Swissbit hardware, with DSFinV-K interfaces and a GoBD-conform cash book.
  • You want clean hand-off to accounting or a later switch of systems — accounting and portability leans LINA TeamCloud on five judges with one tie (6.2 vs 5.0).
  • Procurement weighs vendor sovereignty heavily — the panel leans LINA TeamCloud six judges to none (5.0 vs 4.0); both are German legal entities, with LINA TeamCloud's subprocessor exposure listed as US CLOUD Act exposure and Gastronovi's listed as unknown.
  • You want a named hardware line at the till — checkout and hardware leans LINA TeamCloud three judges to one with two ties (5.3 vs 4.8); the verdict records judges split 4 to 6, the 6 scores crediting a real, named hardware line.
  • Your weighting mirrors the tax adviser's — that judge's published weighted total favours LINA TeamCloud, 5.6 vs 5.3.

The Café Owner

Runs a café with twelve tables, a counter and a terrace in summer, and closes the till herself at eleven at night. Wants an iPad till the student staff learn in one shift, orders that reach the kitchen printer, split bills and tips without arithmetic, a till that keeps selling when the Wi-Fi drops, a TSE she does not have to think about, and a monthly cost she can still read in the second year.

Criterion by criterion

Checkout, receipts & hardware

Gastronovi

The till runs on terminals, tablets and smartphones, keeps an offline mode in the front office when the internet drops, sends receipts digitally by QR code or email, and includes a free kitchen monitor with real-time orders and course control — for my twelve tables that is the heart of it. We found no public information on split bills, on returns and cancellations, on a customer display, or on a list of supported receipt printers, drawers and scanners, and the limits of the offline mode are not described, so it stays below the fuller levels.

LINA TeamCloud

Their own kit is named and real: a 15.6-inch touchscreen stand till, an RS10 handheld for taking orders at the table, receipt printers, payment terminals and a customer monitor, with split bills, digital tips and the E-Bon digital receipt. The till is described as hybrid with offline-capable hardware and master data in the cloud, and there is an FAQ topic about what happens in an internet outage, but I found nothing on how long it keeps selling offline or which payments still work. I also found no published prices or terms for buying or renting the hardware.

Card payments & fees

Gastronovi

Gastronovi Pay publishes its card fees openly — girocard 0.10 to 0.04 percent by monthly volume, Visa and Mastercard 0.70 to 0.50 percent, American Express 3.65 percent, Klarna 1.5 percent plus 0.20 €, and 6 to 10 cents per transaction by volume — with tap to pay on the phone, tip suggestions and the amount passed to the terminal without retyping. One captured answer confirms a merchant already bound to another payment provider for the till can use Gastronovi Pay for online payments only, but the acquirer behind it, payout timing and the terminal's cost are not described in the captured pages.

LINA TeamCloud

Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, QR payment, tips and payment at the table are all there, even card payment straight on the mobile till with no separate terminal, and the packages quote honest with-and-without-payment figures (Core 99 € with payment, 119 € without). But I found no name for the acquirer behind LINA Pay, no published per-transaction fee and no payout timing. The one contract, one system pitch also leaves no room for a terminal or acquirer of my own.

Fiscal compliance (TSE, DSFinV-K, RKSV)

Gastronovi

The cloud TSE is offered with fiskaly named and priced at 14 € a month including 10,000 transactions, Austria is covered with A-Trust RKSV signing and registration at FinanzOnline, and a digital cash book module exists — two countries with the providers named, which is more than most. We found no public information on the DSFinV-K export, on a daily closing, on BSI certification, on a procedure documentation template or on what happens when the TSE fails.

LINA TeamCloud

A fiskaly cloud TSE that books into the same monthly subscription and runs on servers in Frankfurt, with no local TSE management and no physical swap to schedule — a TSE I would not have to think about — plus Swissbit hardware TSEs from their own shop as the alternative, DSFinV-K-conform interfaces, an automatic cashbook with daily closing, and named help with the registration duty and the receipt obligation. What I did not find: the BSI certificate named, a ten-year GoBD archive stated, a procedure documentation template, or the fiscal rules of any second country.

Inventory, tables, staff & locations

Gastronovi

Everything I need beside the sale is documented: a free kitchen monitor with real-time orders and course control, a digital table plan, QR self-ordering, stock with recipes and mobile stocktaking, purchase orders straight into Transgourmet, METRO and other suppliers, individual staff roles, and a central head office that pushes menus and master data to branches while allowing standort-specific changes. We found no public information on a per-employee log of cancellations and voids or on cash differences per employee, which I would want before trusting the nightly till count.

LINA TeamCloud

Table plans editable at the till, orders routed to kitchen and bar stations with course control, live status and a pickup monitor, self-ordering and a kiosk, staff roles, and a stock module with suppliers, recipes, digital inventory counts and automatic reordering when stock runs low. Personnel, absence and duty rosters sit in the same portal, and articles, prices and menus are managed centrally in the cloud with TSEs monitored across locations. I found nothing on per-employee cancellation logs or cross-site sales reporting.

Accounting handoff, DATEV & data export

Gastronovi

A free DATEV format export with both cumulative and single-booking export and an ETL ADHOGA chart-of-accounts link are listed alongside a wide catalogue of hotel, personnel, voucher and procurement integrations — enough for my Steuerbüro in principle. We found no public information on a documented API with webhooks, on card payouts and fees booked separately for reconciliation, or on a complete export of articles, customers and sales when the contract ends.

LINA TeamCloud

The DATEV handoff runs deep: the Kassenarchiv online via DATEV MeinFiskal, digital receipt images straight to the Belegbilderservice DATEV, a DATEV Rechnungswesen pro file generated automatically and downloadable anytime, and a GoBD cashbook that imports the day's data from the till by itself. But I found no public API or webhooks, nothing on card payouts and fees being booked separately for reconciliation, and no statement that articles, customers and sales export in full when the contract ends — only a general right to personal data in a machine-readable format on request.

European sovereignty

Gastronovi

The contracting entity is Gastronovi GmbH in Bremen with a German commercial register entry and an external data protection officer in Bremen, and the privacy policy names rapidmail GmbH in Freiburg for newsletters plus LogMeIn and Atlassian as processors tied by standard contractual clauses. Where the till's own sales and staff data are hosted, which providers carry the cloud TSE and the payment chain, and any security certification are unknown from the captured pages.

LINA TeamCloud

The contracting party is Gastro-MIS GmbH, registered at the Munich court with the address in Gräfelfing and a German VAT number, the pages say all data is stored lawfully in Germany, the cloud TSE runs in Frankfurt, and a data processing agreement under Article 28 exists. But the actual hoster is described only as a possible unnamed external provider, I found no subprocessor list, communication can run through WhatsApp via Meta's Irish entity with a US parent, and I found no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification stated.

Pricing transparency

Gastronovi

The price list is unusually readable for this trade: the first till licence at 69 € a month with falling tiers from the second, the cloud TSE at 14 € a month with its transaction tiers stated, every module from the cash book to Warenwirtschaft to the multi-site head office with a monthly and yearly figure, card fees by type and volume, a 17 percent yearly discount, a three-month minimum term with one month's notice and a 99 € setup fee on the success tariffs. Hardware prices, the support package rates, the terminal cost and VAT treatment are not stated, so I cannot compute the whole first year down to the cent.

LINA TeamCloud

The packages are public and readable: Core from 99 €, Pro from 249 €, Max from 399 € net per month, with the POS licences each package includes, 49 € per further licence, 49 € for the kitchen or bar monitor and 75 € per ordering kiosk, and the with-and-without-payment footnotes show the payment bundling honestly. But I found no price for the TSE, the hardware, card transaction fees, setup or support — the payment page only says you pay the actual payment costs — and price and condition changes are reserved.
